Robin Keehn and Carry Madison are the directors of Aspire Academy. They'll use this blog to let you know what's going on at the studio, what programs are coming up, and other items of special interest. They're also interested in hearing from you about your experiences at Aspire Academy, whether you just want to sing the praises of your teacher, want to request a particular class, or have some problem that needs solving. Hip Hop Techniques Class for Students ages 9 and Up!

Our regular Hip Hop classes are now closed until the summer while students prepare for the June 20 & 21 Recital.  We do have a HIP HOP TECHNIQUES class for students who are wanting to enroll now in a class.  Please click on the Hip Hop link on the left sidebar for all the information.

Zumba--New Tuesday Classes!

We've just added TWO new Zumba classes on TUESDAY NIGHTS!  Regular Zumba meets at 5:30 with Robin and ZUMBA GOLD (Beginning) meets at 6:30 with Laurel.   Come join the party!

Simply Music Free Introductory Sessions

We have a series of Simply Music (piano & keyboard method) Free Introductory Sessions coming up in the next two weeks.  The sessions are:  Monday, February 22 at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, February 28 at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday March 3 at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m.    The one hour sessions are packed with information about the method--specifically how it differs from traditional piano lessons, what you can expect to learn, a demonstration of the the pieces and how they are taught and a question & answer period.  If you would like to learn more about Simply Music, please reserve a place in one of the sessions by calling 681-3979 today!

Aspire Academy Performing Arts Group---NON PROFIT is HERE!

We are pleased to announce that we now have a non-profit dance & music performing company called Aspire Academy Performing Arts Group (AAPAG) .  This non-profit will accept tax deductible donations that will provide scholarships to students who attend Aspire Academy of Expressive Arts.  AAPAG will also house the music, dance and acrobatic gymnastics performance teams.  These teams will have the opportunity to perform locally and regionally and attend conferences and competitions.   We have students every month asking for scholarships and currently have given over $3,000 in scholarships this year.  If you or anyone you know would like to participate in providing a scholarship to promising musicans, dancers or gymnasts, you can make a check to Aspire Academy Performing Arts Group and mail it to:

Adult Ballet from 10-11 a.m. on Fridays! Starts November 5

Due to many requests we now have a beginning adult ballet class that meets during school hours.  This class will focus on technique, body placement, strength and flexibility working at the barre and center.  Students will also learn ballet terminology.  Older teens and adults are welcome to register for the class now.  Just click on "Ballet" on the left sidebar and scroll down to the class.

Jazz Foundations Class Added! Thursdays 4:45

We've added a dynamic Jazz Foundations class on Thursday afternoons that will focus on developing a working Jazz dance vocabulary for aspiring dancers.  This class is appropriate for students seeking a foundation in Jazz technique.  The focus will be on developing center control of the body and a vocabulary of Jazz techniques including but not limited to:
Jete', Split Leap, Stag Leap, Jazz runs, Pas de bouree, Pique passe, pirouette, pivot step, Renverse,  Toe Rise and more.  Students will also work on rhythm and choreography. 
Students are highly encouraged to take a Ballet class in addition to their Jazz class.   You can register now by clicking on the Jazz link on the left sidebar.  Class begins September 17 at 4:45.

Kindermusik Classes Start Soon for 18 months to 3 1/2 years

Flute Lessons with Internationally Acclaimed Flutist Patti Monson

We are very excited to have Patti Monson, an internationally acclaimed flutist from New York City, offering Flute lessons and Chamber Ensemble at Aspire.  Flute lessons are available for students of all abilities on Monday afternoons.  Monday at 5:30 Patti will be teaching a Chamber Ensemble class.  Please give us a call to be placed on Patti's schedule!

Jazz & Hip Hop Performance Team Auditions Oct. 12th Ages 12+

 

We are forming two Performance teams for students

We are forming two performance teams for students interested in performing locally and competing in Seattle this spring.   Students 12 and older are invited to audition at Aspire on Monday, October 12th  between 6 and 8:30 p.m.  Students who are invited to be on the teams must attend the weekly team practice and, additionally, they must enroll in a technique (ballet) class.  The teams are scheduled to meet on Mondays and Wednesdays  from 7:00-8:15 (one team each night--you only come to the team class that you make).   Please call to sign up for the 15 minute audition.  We will give you further details when you call.

New Music Class for Ages 4-6 Offered!

We have a great new music class being offered for students ages 4-6 on Mondays from 3:15-4:00.  Carry Madison will be teaching "Intro to Orff and Singing" which introduces children to the Orff barred instruments and non-pitched percussion instruments.  Children will also focus on solo singing, pitch matching and building a musical vocabularyMusical storytelling using instruments, songs, acting and dancing makes this a fun musical journey.
