Imagine That! for ages 3-5 years

At an age when a child's imagination is soaring, and every experience becomes an opportunity for self-discovery, Kindermusik Imagine That! provides an extraordinary musical atmosphere. Children will explore the power of pretend play with exceptional music, movement activities, singing and literature as building blocks and a caring and observant Kindermusik educator as their guide.

By playing an active, expressive role in every classroom experience, your child will reflect, compare, make choices, express opinions, solve problems, sing, act and move while uncovering new revelations in an exciting world of music and exploration.

What We Do In Class

Family Participation. The bond is strengthened between you and your child through parent participation in a portion of the class; weekly home activities and suggestions for recordings and stories relating to the class experience.

Vocal Skill Development. Vocal skills are developed through singing simple tonal and modal songs and vocal exploration. There is a focus on encouraging more independent singing and an emphasis on vocal awareness.

Develop Tonal and Rhythmic Awareness. Singing songs and echoing isolated tonal and rhythmic patterns as a group and as individuals help children to develop awareness of tones and rhythms.

Move and Dance Expressively. Movement skills and coordination are encouraged through movement to a musical cue; expressive movement to music and stories; beginning to label movements to help build movement vocabulary.

Play and Explore Instruments. Instrument skills are enhanced with the introduction to some instrument types (instruments with strings, keyboard instruments, shakers and beaters, blown instruments); awareness of timbre; first steps toward ensemble playing; proper care and handling of instruments; instrumental demonstrations.

Listen Actively. Focused listening skills are built by listening to and identifying different instruments and timbres.

The fun of Imagine That! continues at home with Student Home Materials.  Each semester's set includes 2 CDs, a Playset for creative play, an instrument, two story books that we also read in class, and a Family Activity Book that we use on a weekly basis.
