Music & Movement--Out of the Box! Grades 1 & 2

 Join us for a creative adventure that takes music and movement to fun, new levels for grades one and two.  Hands-on learning will introduce young musicians to a wide variety of instruments, including unpitched percussion such as rhythm sticks, tambourine and hand drums, xylophones, and body percussion, where young musicians learn to create rhythms on the ultimate instrument – themselves!  Special emphasis is placed on turning each child’s ideas into creative expression through improvisation and groups activities.  As a part of our learning experience, students will develop skills in rhythm, melody, form and timbre through the use of folk songs from around the world.  This class is a fun way to spark creativity and develop higher-level thinking skills.
