Simply Music Program

Australian piano and keyboard method opens musical doors to people of all ages...ENROLLING NOW at Aspire Academy!

                       simply music

Simply Music is a remarkable Australian-developed piano and keyboard program that has beginning students playing great sounding music immediately — from their very first lessons. Simply Music uses a completely new and revolutionary approach focusing on the sheer joy of playing the piano and produces immediate results.

Reading music is temporarily delayed and beginning students have their full attention on the piano and are free to establish a hands-on and personal feeling for the instrument. Students build a playlist of 30-50 songs in their first year that includes pop, blues, classical, jazz, arrangements and accompaniments.

" I am amazed with how Simply Music has my child playing many songs in just a few months and how much she enjoys class every week.  She loves playing piano and it has been an amazing experience for us!"  Lori Coleman, Sequim

"Simply Music has given me the opportunity to learn to play the piano unlike I ever imagined. I am playing blues, jazz, classic and contemporary pieces and have been since the beginning. It is a great exercise for my mind and body.  I never thought of myself as a piano player or musically inclined, but this program has proven me wrong. Thank you!"  Joan Trindle, Adult student, Sequim

" The Simply Music program instilled confidence in Gracie right from the start. We have loved watching her grow in her piano skills, and the creativity this program brings out in her has been such a joy to experience.  The group lesson format has also been a huge benefit, she has loved learning alongside her peers."   Travis and Amy Hurdlow, Sequim

"We are absolutely thrilled with Simply Music.  Our daughter is in her first year of piano and loving every minute of it.  The teachers are all so knowledgable and eager to help our children learn and they are so encouraging.  We couldn't be more happy with the program and the opportunity it has given our child." Erin Green, Sequim

"Because of Simply Music we found our grandson, Jimmy Stewart, has a wonderful talent for playing the piano.  In the past four years he has played in several concerts and has three videos on Youtube!"  Jim and Alice White, Sequim

“At 83 years of age, this wonderful program has given my life a dimension that has brought me much joy and satisfaction. The experience of Simply Music has helped me to cope with stress, and even sadness. I have been most fortunate and blessed to have had the experience of Simply Music.”  Sara Larmer Meuse

“After two years of being very frustrated with other piano programs, we have found one that works and that my daughter enjoys tremendously. The results are wonderful.”   Tammie Duke

“My daughter is only 7 years old with no previous music knowledge. Our experience has absolutely surpassed our expectations. Recently she played a well-known song in front of 100 people and she brought the house down.”   Marsha Goodstein

Teacher Robin Keehn writes...

"As a child, I loved music and playing the piano was one of my favorite things. At age 10 I began formal, traditional piano lessons which continued through my college education. Like most people, I found piano lessons to be difficult and frustrating because learning to read was so slow and  I wasn't allowed to make the most of my musical abilities that didn't fit the traditional training mode.

When I began teaching Kindermusik in 1995, I also began teaching traditional piano lessons. I taught for several years and although I loved my students, I was disappointed with the experience. I was not challenged and students, even if they were motivated, could play only as well as they could read. The reading process, where it all began, was slow and tedious and it was discouraging for everyone. I began looking for a better way to teach piano--one that made the most of a students musicality, built confidence and encouraged a student to develop a positive relationship to the instrument. In mid-2003, I corresponded with a few Kindermusik teachers who were teaching Simply Music--a playing-based piano method that offered exactly what I had searched for for nearly a decade.

As a teacher, I love teaching Simply Music. I find myself challenged to re-think my traditional training and be willing to look at music from a new angle. I love having students who are motivated and excited about what they have learned and will learn every week. The Student Home Materials ensure success during the week and for children, having an adult coach at home who knows what we've done in class (because they have attended with their child) offers the student wonderful support that is usually not available in traditional lessons. This method reaches people of all ages--from age 6 to 85 years are currently taking classes at Aspire."

Simply Music has four stated goals:

  • That students experience music as a natural self-expression.
  • That students build a huge repetoire of music including classical, pop, blues, jazz, arrangements and accompaniments.
  • That students develop the ability to self-generate, and;
  • That students have a highly positive and self affirming experience.

The overriding goal is to maximize the likelihood of students retaining music as a lifelong companion. We are commited to the fulfillment of these goals for each and every student at Aspire Academy of Expressive Arts.

We are taking new students in September.  If you are interested in finding out more about Simply Music, please attend a Free Introductory Session. The session lasts about an hour and will include a demonstration of the types of songs you will learn, an explanation of the Simply Music playing-based approach, a demonstration of how we teach the method, and a time for questions and answers.

Classes are offered Monday-Thursday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
